What better to diligently blip from Yorkshire than the National Coal Mining Museum for England?
A working pit from the 1770s until 1985, it closed after the miners' strikes of that decade. Life for miners may have been hard and backbreaking work - but the history of mining has been preserved here so that the culture & close community of the pits and the pit villages has not been totally lost.
