The Juggler
BErry and I finally made an early morning visit to Olympic Stadium this morning. IT is an iconic Cambodian site
Firstly, because at the time it was designed and built in the 1960s by (the recently late) King Norodom Sihanouk, it was state of the art, and although a little run down now, the beauty of the design is still so evident.
I also find it incredible to be reminded of the city Phnom Penh was in that time, compared to the city it is now and what it has been though in the intervening years.
And the second reason it is so iconic is because it had become this cultural centre, where every morning Phnom Penh citizens partake in all sorts of exercise, from walking laps, to dance classes, tae kwondo, aerobics classes, vigorous arm swinging, and, as this man was committed to showing us, juggling while walking up and down the steps (only if audience present of course!)
