Rod n' Reel
I nearly didn't do a blip today. I was just too busy.
I took Jo's little car to a radiator specialist this morning. He is going to recondition it for me next week. That turned out to be a little bit more compicated than I thought because I didn't have my wallet with me for a deposit. So I rushed home swapped cars and went back. Then he wanted to re-measure the radiator so I rushed home and again swapped cars and raced back. Whew!
By the time I finished that I was getting hot and bothered and had rather a bad headache. The headache might have been caused by alcohol withdrawl because I haven't had a drink since the weekend. Mind you it might have been caused by severe dehydration due to lack of alcohol too. I might never know.
After all that I went to the home to collect Dad for his second denture fitting. I went into his room and realised that I was going to be a bit delayed. A quick check of him confirmed that he had had a little incident. So I got him straight in the shower but I couldn't find any towels. The staff at the home came to my aid though. We were only 20 minutes behind schedule when Dad was dressed and in the car. We even managed to make it to his appointment early.
The dentist went well. Dad was easy to deal with and now he only has two more sessions before he gets his bite back.
On the way back to the home Dad thought I was taking him "home" and got a bit argumentative when I explained that I wasn't. How do we tell him that he isn't going home, ever again. He even told me that there was nothing wrong with him so why couldn't he go home. Looking back on the mornings events I would beg to differ but I elected to stay silent on that one.
If you have read this far you may be wondering how a fishing rod relates to all this. Well, I sold a photo last week and have had the cash burning a hole in my pocket ever since. Tonight was the first time I could make it to the tackle superstore to narrow my rather large list down to something that fits into my budget. It was a close call between a you beaut deep sea rod and this one. In the end I bought this because I do more estuary fishing than anything else. Jo will roll her eyes but a man can never have too many rods. Besides, I am really just replacing some of my old fishing gear. Honest!
So there. Once again I managed to summon a blip on a day when it was worthwhile making a journal entry.
Now I just need to find the time to go fishing.
