The Little People
This morning's picture, from my garden, reminded me that I used to believe that fairies, elves and little people lived in the woods, waterfalls, and even in my grandma's cottage garden.
As a child my grandma used to tell me about the wee folk, and my imagination would be filled with wonder.
My grandma even showed me a enchanted place in the woods, where I was told they lived. Looking back I now believe this was a green water tank, on a mound.
I would often go down to the "little people's house" on my own, very quietly on tiptoe, using the undergrowth as cover, but I never did catch a glimpse of the little people;-)
Today's blip, and the following lines of an unknown author, reminded me of these memories from childhood:
"The woods are full of faeries!
The trees are all alive;
The river overflows with them,
See how they dip and dive!
What funny little fellows!
What dainty little dears!"
They dance and leap, and prance and peep,
And utter fairy cheers!"
