Veg box from Glengorm gardens

A trial box to check what’s available. We collected this from Tobermory Producers Market today, as usual markets are a good place to meet for a chat. This was £20.00, (a tad costly do you think? I can’t decide). The only thing neither of us are keen on is marrow, I will need to search the Internet for an interesting recipe. Those little tomatoes are good for taste, we are into fresh herbs courtesy of the polytunnel and along with a quality olive oil, a fine addition to any meal. (the current bottle was bought on that wonderful weekend trip in Croatia all those happy months ago, it has a peppery tang although I see it’s nearly finished. Fortunalty there is one more bottle).
Oddly enough the marrow isn’t shown here, it’s big enough.

This afternoon we tackled the crop of black currants with 10.5 kgms now sat in the freezer and a sigh of relief from us both. Much easier with John helping, normally I pick of couple kilo a time, but not this year. Black currant cordial has become a favourite in recent weeks, John suggested making this when emptying the freezer from last years crop. It’s not too sweet, very tasty and good poured over fresh fruit and muesli as well as a drink. There’s more to harvest, we will leave some for the blackbirds, and probably offer the rest to neighbours.
