What was it like where you were?
We spent the day in the Western Lakes, Riding on the Ratty To Dalegarth then walking back over Muncaster Fell to Ravenglass.
The sun was shining as we left Far Sawrey but by the time we reached Ravenglass we were faced with a wall of think, grey cloud from which rain began to fall as we got out of the car. It hardly stopped for the remainder of the day.
We kept looking at the Rain Alert app to see if it was likely to clear but it seemed that there was a conveyor belt to rain streaming from the south west feeding a continual band of rain across the district. And it was 30c in other parts of the country!
We sat on the platform at Dalegarth debating whether to return by train or brave the rain and walk back. We walked back. It wasn’t too bad until up on the Fell which proved a bit of a navigational challenge in the murk. We felt good about it in the end. Little mention of the rain we experienced on the evening weather.
Today’s blip is of the loco River Mite waiting to depart from Dalegarth. Such was the anxiety of people to sit inside that people were boarding over half an hour before the train left.
Thank you for all your comments, I’m trying to keep up but as Trev Earthy says, too busy having a good time to comment too much.
