Model boats on Mote Park Lake
I return to this subject quite regularly. Sometimes a little negative about the noisy racing motorboats but often in praise of model boats such as these beautiful sailing barges of all different sizes.
Today, the owners of all these boats were racing around a course, a real skill that is the same as real sailing, having to control the sails and the rudder, reading the wind from some distance away. Here, they are all milling around near the start waiting for the gun. I don't know why but Susan and I are always attracted to boats with tan coloured sails of which there are many in this shot.
The afternoon was spent preparing for guests for dinner tonight. Peeling, washing, slicing allotment veg, cooking the creamy, mustard chicken, making the dessert (Cranachan) as well as freezing three lots of beans and cooking beetroot. Susan baked a focaccia which turned out really well. This led to an enjoyable evening where, thankfully, everyone enjoyed their food.
