Park Railway

It was a personal treat today … for although living in southern Hampshire for half a century or more I have not before visited Eastleigh Lakeside Country Park, or more to the point its narrow gauge railway
The one and a quarter mile track skirts the edge of the park and with a halt half way round provides access to the park’s lakes, a children’s playground and picnic area.

Sadly I did not have opportunity to take a train ride today but I can bide my time.

It was fascinating enough to learn about the railway and its remarkable collection of miniature locomotives, said to be the largest collection on an operating railway in the country. There are 24 of them, and no less than 21 of them steam driven.

I’ll be back for my journey on the train quite soon!
