Lifeless?

Spent almost three hours this morning walking in RSPB Leighton Moss and the nearby butterfly reserve.

All rather sad and certainly not a photographers paradise.
The water levels in Leighton Moss are now very low which means that the few remaining birds are a long way from the hides. A solitary Little Egret and some Gulls could be seen and a Hobby was flying overhead.
Plant life was in a very poor state. Usually there would be Knapweed and Ragwort attracting insects but many of them had aborted their flowers and I did not see a single Hoverfly.

To make matters worse the RSPB had taken down their bird feeders because of a problem with rats.

So my blip is just a random shot which caught my eye.

We are promised some rain for much of the coming weekend. We desperately need it. Where my son lives south of Cambridge it will be the first for 45 days.
