The Bridge

De Brug ("The Bridge") is one of the most famous buildings in Rotterdam. It sits 82 feet (25 meters) above the street. The building was designed in this way so that Unilever's historic Blue Band factory, which dates back to 1891, could continue operating during the construction period. De Brug, therefore, was prefabricated in a nearby part of the city and put together above the Blue Band factory in 2004.
