Under Stormy Clouds

On choppy waves
beyond the pebbled strand,
white caps ride the sea
in the stormy wind.

The Mew Stone shines
in a sudden burst of sun
before the rain arrives
and our seashore walk is done.

Last night's cloud cover hid the moon's eclipse, unfortunately, though by 4.00am the sky was clear and the full moon shone brightly but unremarkably.  I think it was the wind that woke me, blowing a gale with extra-fast, loud gusts. It's carried on all day so far. Timed our beach walk perfectly, just before the rain kicked in properly. Despite the strong, cool wind and the rough waves, three people were swimming off Slapton Sands (the beach alongside the closed A379). Mrs B, the daughter formerly known as Miss PP, enjoyed a paddle.

I love it when the Mew Stone in Start Bay catches the sun. Its character, often dark and ominous, instantly turns benign.

Oh, the garden is loving the rain!
