A lovely morning at the parade and fair....

A lovely morning at the parade and fair. In all the years it has been going on, I never went to the beginning of it. It was wonderful that everyone could walk up to everything, no security, no press credentials, just a hometown parade..

I chose these to pictures because of the contrast of what they represent. The local police were wearing their honor guard uniforms paying respect to a local officer who lost his life in the line of duty, and flowers that represent everything from sadness to joy and happiness...

The first extra is 3rd street where the parade went down. It is also is the business district. A picture of our library that is over the Cedar River and the local high school where my aunt and uncle graduated over 50 years ago..

The second extra is a "boy" scout, last minute makeup before the parade and just a guy strumming a guitar. It was wonderful to see every walk of life from my hometown represented.

The last extra is of course a rubber duck..All part of the theme of the fair.  I kept it healthy food wise for breakfast and as I left, I picked up some kettle corn for my mom and some cinnamon pecans for my dad tomorrow..  A wonderful way to start a Saturday...
