Midwinter swim

After a very entertaining morning at Operatunity listening to songs from the musicals Blipmate and I took off with our sandwiches and muffin to Rabbit Island. We had our thermos and sat in the peace and quiet of the beach, except there were lots of people there. Still, plenty of room for all. After a quick stroll on the beach we were heading back to the car when some weka appeared and went straight for a couple having lunch on a seat. I hope they didn't want privacy as they had 5 weka, us two and others around them. Eventually the birds headed for the pines but called into this puddle for a dip and a drink on the way. They couldn't have chosen a dirtier bit of water.
A real thrill to get so close and see so many.
