Monsoon

Wet and windy today. Bangladesh is a ‘dry’ country but, like Pakistan and other official no-alcohol zones, some hotels have hidden bars, usually down a dark corridor and through a door that looks like it’s a broom cupboard. I usually avoid such places as they tend to be full of inebriated foreigners, but SuSu from Myanmar had her birthday today and invited us to enjoy a warm beer and view of the sea. It was a bizarre pirate-themed bar complete with mock ‘barrels of rum’. Afterwards I got back to my room to find a massive cockroach. A monumental battle ensued which I finally won (first time in me v. Cockroach I have actually won). I dropped it out the window. I’m sure it’s out there plotting revenge.
