Bombay Restaurant
As I explained yesterday, today was my wife's birthday. So she gets to choose what to do, and this year her wish was to get me to the cinema (for the first time in two years, she says).
We went to see Skyfall, the new Bond film, and I didn't find it too taxing intellectually. Nice and noisy, anyway, and good effects, and an absolutely foolish plot.
The cinema is in an area known as Jericho, and very close by is this well known Indian restaurant. We have a discount card for this restaurant (it wasn't my doing!), and the opportunity and temptation to eat there were too great just to pass up. The food is pretty good: not outstanding, but perfectly acceptable after a dose of James Bond. One nice feature about the restaurant is that it is a BYO for alcoholic drinks, and right next door is a shop with a surprisingly good range of wines at reasonable-ish prices. You can see what we brought along. Quite good with almost everything except the lime pickle.
Just as well that we chose yesterday for our walk in the woods. That day was fine and sunny, and ideal for enjoying the range of colours exhibited by the trees. Today was wet and miserable, at least until the evening. Even then, it was nice to get home after the Indian meal, and sit with some Caol Ila in the warmth of our home, listening to a Brahms 'Cello Sonata from a new (birthday) CD.
