Returning To Family

On the 16 June 1942 whilst on active service in the Mediterranean HMS Hermoine was sunk with the loss of 87 ships company.
Amongst those lost was Falmouth man, John  Kenneth Ainsworth  Parnell an RN Telegraphist.
At some point his parents, John & Louise, commissioned this plate to remember him.

I was contacted several years ago by an online auction site who were offering it for sale and informed a ‘no sale’ would result in its melting down for its silver content.
The Falmouth Branch of the Royal Naval Association paid a three figure sum for it with the intention of returning it to the family.
Unofficial intermittent enquiries have not given us any leads so we shall shortly be appealing to the local press for help.

Elsewhere a slow day, out to Treliske in order for Mrs S to sign her new contract, some shopping and home.
