Monster masks?
Today I went to see a doctor at the Swedish Hospital Sleep Center to see if my sleep apnea might be contributing to my memory issues. I was diagnosed with very severe apnea in 2003, started using a CPAP machine (continuous positive airway pressure) at that time, and have never seen a sleep specialist or had another sleep study since then. So I thought it was time.
On display in the office were these masks, a very small CPAP machine, and a poster about why sleep is important (Extra). The light in there was awful, so these images are not what I would have liked. The doctor and I spent quite a while talking, and agreed that a new sleep study, and perhaps a new machine, were warranted. So I'll be going in on the evening of the 24th and spending the night hooked up to machines while I sleep, to see what my current status is. What happens after that will depend to a great extent on what Medicare, and my Medicare Advantage Plan, will cover.
We hit 93 degrees today, and expect the same tomorrow. I've got to come up with a better plan for keeping cool in my apartment. Hoping all of you are well-equipped for keeping cool.
