Welcome the day

Woke just in time to watch the sun rise above clouds behind Kawau Island. Fortunately the grass was not too cold on my bare feet.

Later in the morning I went to Southend of Snells Beach and took some photos of the single Tuturiwhatu (dotterel) on the mudflats. I've included as an extra a photo in which the Tuturiwhatu paused amongst the empty cockle shells, aware it would seem of the slim pickings.
