Closing Time For The Last Time

After 111 years in Northampton, Marks & Spencer are closing for the last time today. Along with a growing list of failed retailers, M&S are reducing their outlets in an attempt to survive. Many other big names have gone under completely and there are reports of more retailers in trouble almost every week.

The only certainty is change. M&S and others have ignored this truth at their peril. Sad though it is for many, I for one won't miss this store which felt as if it was stuck in the 1960s.

A lone piper played suitable morose tunes as the shutters came down.
