Brown Eyes
Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,
The Explorer and I went to Glasgow today to see Van the Man. We had been gifted this by Boots. It was a VIP package which included dinner and drinks in The Butchershop prior to the gig.
We were worried that we might be thirsty on the train so we bought some cans of gin and tonic just in case. Turned out we were. Who’d have thought!
We decided to head straight to the dinner venue but unfortunately, our earlier thirst meant that The Explorer needed to use a toilet. So we stopped. At a pub. We obviously had to have a drink. It would have been rude to use the facilities without buying something!
It turned out to be quite lucky that we had those drinks because the VIP dinner package meant that we were sitting at a table of 8. WITH STRANGERS. Thankfully, I had just enough to drink to make it easier to chat to complete randoms but not so much that I ended up making a complete @rse of myself. If only I could get that balance right all the time.
The gig was good. In all fairness, although I’m not a huge fan, everyone knows loads of the songs and the Kelvingrove bandstand is a great venue. The band were brilliant and he even sang ‘Brown Eyed Girl’. We also had a bit of banter with one of the girls who was selling drinks vouchers. She thought we were hilarious because we told her that we were more interested in her and her drinks vouchers than Van the Man. She declined our kind offer to get her sneaky drinks to hide under her luminous jacket but gave us a hug on the way out and said we could hang back and have a few drinks if we wanted!
We decided not to party with the young things and headed black to the train station. I had a brilliant night. It was the first time I have been out with The Explorer for ages. She is a very funny lady and I love her company. She has had a lot of things going on in her life and I have been missing her. It was nice to hear what is going on in her head at the moment.
