95 years separate them!
We had a delightful visit today from some of our family. Robert is the son of one of my mother's cousins. He and his wife, Marjorie, (yes another one) brought their three grandchildren to see us. Evie is 9, Joshua is 6 (7 on October 1st) and Lucas is 19 months.
It was such pleasure to have them here. The children get on very well together. They loved the toys I had put out for them and they all like books too. Here you see Mum and Lucas enjoying the pictures in The Patchwork Cat.
After a while, I suggested that we went to the play park. "We were hoping you would take us here," confided Evie as we walked through the village. It was a bit drizzly but nothing too bad.
Back at the house, they watched Daisy walking around the garden and were thrilled when a greater spotted woodpecker fed on the peanuts.
Tonight I went with Margret (next door) and Julie to see a remarkable film. Do go to see Summer 1993 if you can. It is a most beautifully made evocation of the grief of a child. We could not believe how well the children acted, showing a range of emotions through their facial expressions and body language. It's in Catalan with subtitles. Link to the Guardian review
