It's Wednesday and we went for a walk
Today's walk was from Lanercost, near the Priory, and ably led by Peter Goff. He still tends to race on ahead, but his legs are longer than everyone else's so we try to understand!
Despite the weather forecasts earlier in the week, there was no rain. We could see rain in the distance, but it never came to us. In fact it was hot and muggy all day.
We were down by the river, in woods and climbed up through fields. There was a stretch on Hadrian's Wall Trail. It was varied and interesting. We even had to cross a swollen stream and discovered that we are out of practice after all the dry weather! A few people collected field mushrooms.
My blip is of a field covered in hawksbit. (Harry will correct me if I am wrong about this.)
My extra is in a dark woodland with nothing growing on the forest floor.
Alistair was away today, but he will be disappointed when he hears that the pub we visited at the end of the walk was serving Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Al's favourite. It's a very pleasant beer (and I wasn't driving).
