For Susi

What an interesting day.

In addition to some massive herds of elephant, wildebeest and zebra, a very grumpy elephant who made sure a waterbuck wasn’t allowed to drink from the dam that he was bathing in, we spent a good wee while watching a cheetah stalk some other waterbuck.

Not long after we came across two Lions, one very alert and the other dozing flat out in the sunshine. The latter appeared to have had and lost an argument with a porcupine as he had a quill firmly embedded in his side.

Stopping at a lookout point we had a packet of chips snaffled by very speedy and opportunistic vervet monkeys. They brushed the salt and flavoring off each one before chomping them down.

We are spending our last night in a camp that is new to us. Talamati bush camp is already looking promising from the huge herd of elephant at the watering hole and the frenzy of baboons who seem to have an unwelcome interloper in their midst.

Could be an interesting night too.
