Our last morning in the Kruger started with a surprise find. Mr Hippo was a long way from the water as we turned down one of the river loops. He was in a sorry state having either been attacked by a cat or had been in a fight where he came second. He barely moved when we arrived which meant he was either really in a bad way or we didn't appear that much of a challenge, I hope the latter.

We are now at our next stop, Maninghi Lodge on the Oliphants river. It is in the Balule Nature Reserve and unfenced from the Kruger so wild beasties wander past quite freely.

The best sighting of the evening was a leopard who came down for a drink on the opposite bank of the river.

It is a fabulous find and this will most definitely not be our last visit.

Anyone fancy joining us on our next visit?
