Castles
Not a lot of walking today, we visited Holy Island along with many hundreds of other tourists, to see Lindisfarne Castle in the morning and Bamburgh Castle in the afternoon. This is the view from the latter, although I nearly chose a shot of the Gertrude Jekyll designed garden next to Lindisfarne, a small but unexpected pleasure. The castle is under renovation so one side is covered in scaffolding and the interior is quite bare. Bamburgh was very different, full of stuff including an impressive ceramics/china collection. I learned that most of it was built by the same family who built Cragside, in the early 1900s. Also had a good view!
