luau

dad and i went to a luau tonight for a some eating, drinking, and entertainment. it was really quite fun - i liked the look of this photo best of all. what's better than dancing with swords? flaming swords of course.

this fire dancing thing, as we were told, is actually a dance from samoa and not hawaii. nonethless, it was extemely fun to watch.

oh yes, and it's official - i have joined the esteemed rank of "surfer" today. this marks the first time in my life that i have been surfing - and i was also successful the very first try. i've heard it's much easier to do in waikiki due to the rolling waves, so i'll have to test that theory elsewhere soon. watch out, this could be habit-forming.
