Painted Lady

For me it has been an unusual year for butterflies.  I have seen more painted ladies than red admirals and peacocks combined.  The number of butterflies in my own garden has been tiny compared to previous years however this has coincided with the loss of my big buddleia to the winter frosts.  An hour's drive south into Worcestershire and I have found more butterflies than I have ever seen before and some varieties new to me.
