Speed Test

Woah!  This  roadside sign has been planted in the verge just outside my front door.   The one thing not in doubt is the message it conveys.
Yet how many drivers have I seen taking notice of the message?   Very few, if any.
The sign went up when the road was resurfaced a few weeks ago, and then surface dressed during the hot weather.
Maybe by now, it’s been there longer than really necessary, yet even in the days when the dressing was fresh I did not notice any significant reduction in speeds.
But then I guess I can be thankful that I have not been disturbed by the sound of any vehicle crashing headlong into the ditch or hedge, either side of the road.
