Life through the lens...

By ValC

Wet, wet, wet.

I thought this flower summed up today’s weather.
WET.

These gaillardia love hot sunny weather, but don’t like rain.

Gaillardia is a genus of flowering plants in the sunflower family. A native to North and South America.
It was named after an M. Gaillard de Charentonneau, an 18th century French magistrate who was a patron of botany.
The school colours of Texas State University are maroon and old gold, a combination inspired by the gaillardia.

I bought the plant last year, and was surprised it survived the winter.
It has been covered in flowers all summer. Has loved the hot dry weather.

It was only 11C this morning.
Hope it warms up again.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday everyone.
