Egg Mystery Solved

Doing my morning coop chores, I was waiting on one of my chickens finishing up on a nest so I could collect the eggs that had been laid so far. I was standing in a doorway on the opposite side of the coop. Kung Pao was frantically trying to get past me to get in to the coop behind me, so I moved over for her. She scurried over to where there is a wooden box I built them to lay in, but I had turned it around so it was no longer usable ... since 2 hens kept going broody in them. As she approached the box, there was this loud, angry hiss, and Kung Pao scampered back outside. I went over to see if there was some strange animal hiding out over there ... I pulled back the box, and there was Grace (my Khaki Camphell duck) hissing away, all puffed up -_-. She didn't sound like a bird at all! Since I had disturbed her and all, she ran out of the coop as well, revealing a nest with more than a dozen eggs in it. Egg production had been down over the last week, but I assumed it was due to my aging ladies and the temperature change. Sigh. Now I need to check them all, to see if any of them are floaters. I'll probably just use them in my hair, it could use a spa treatment ;)

In other news, I finished the door, hooray! In other, other news ... I now have to change the screen door and paint all the siding white, yuck!
