Pianodrome
This is an amazing fringe construction. The world's first 100 seater amphitheatre constructed entirely of upcycled pianos.
You can't miss it as you enter the Botanics through the west gate and wander towards the orchards. There is a white dome shaped tented structure open to the front and the four quarters resounding with the sounds of pianos being pounded by skilled and unskilled hands.
The instrumentalists today included our grandchildren and several other happy and spontaneous players. One lady in a wheelchair gave us a skilled version of some Brahms while a teenager in the opposite corner pounded out The Entertainer.
Five pianos set amongst seating made from parts of pianos on a floor which is a mix of piano parquet and piano panels What fun!
There are proper concerts in the evenings, but during the day the visitors provide entertainment for themselves and others.
Edinburgh Fringe at its best.
