2018 Saturday — Distance Education

The fall semester begins Monday, so I’ve logged-in to my online class numerous times the past few days to put final touches on the Basic Writing course I will teach as a hybrid class this season. I think this Learning Management System (LMS), which is called Canvas, is going to be much better than our previous one, called Blackboard.

The fun news for today is that we went to Taylor’s Appliance Store to order the stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator for this SoCal home that we have moved back into. This house has never had a built-in dishwasher.

So a year ago when the renters moved-out and we started the restoration, we had the old dark wood cabinets replaced with new bright white cabinets and a place for a dishwasher. In approximately two weeks our kitchen should be complete (we will never be accused of being speedy). Currently we have a refrigerator in the garage and a separate freezer, and no ice maker.

We are using the old 1942 Wedgewood apartment size stove that was in our coastal home when we bought it back in 2012. The thermostat on the oven is broke so we cannot use the oven, but the four burners cook food better than any stove I have ever used. I need to have the Wedgewood assessed and decide whether to have it restored or to sell it.
