Teddy Bear

That is the name of this sunflower growing on my allotment! It's about 2 foot high and multi headed and I just love it! I had a good 4 hours on the allotment this am. Tidying up the spent ladies mantle that was falling across the paths and harvesting the last of the broad beans and pulling them out to make way for the winter sweet dumpling squash which is still growing every which way! I also cleared an entire bed of spent aquilegia, grass, herbs and ladies mantle - all ready now to be covered over for the winter!
There was one other person on the allotment - he had only taken ownership  a  few months and had come to harvest his radish. Unfortunately something had got to them before he did! Every single one nibbled! They had also had his beetroot seeds! I kept hearing him exclaim in frustration! I gave him one of my lemon crystal cucumbers to cheer him up! A little later he called out to me to see the common Copper butterfly that had landed near him - what a beautiful little thing! From then on I kept seeing it everywhere I went on my plot! He said it could only be counted as another one if I saw two at the same time! Sadly rain came in and it was time for lunch! There had been brief showers all morning that had seen the pair of us putting layers on and taking them off repeatedly! Luckily the rain stopped come the eve when it was  the hens bedtime. I picked 3 gladioli that had just begun to bloom but had been bent to the ground by the rain, and collected the enormous Red Kuri squash that had been curing in the sun! Another happy allotment day!
