'A World Apart'
St Kilda, famous for its history, dramatic scenery, spectacular seabirds and unique isolation. Most of the seabirds have now left the islands, but we really enjoyed walking on the cliffs and then along the main street of 16 blackhouses, the traditional houses built in the 1830s. We were amazed at the number of cleits scattered around the village; these were used as larders or stores, where seabirds, eggs and turf were kept. The Soay sheep, found nowhere else in the world, were quite impressive too.
