And She's Off!

Dd ready to start Day 1 of her September IH CELTA course, as Main Course Tutor, here in Barcelona.   It 'only' has nine trainees on it compared to last month's course (finished Monday) that had eighteen!   A huge difference to manage in ever sense from creating the groups, packing them into the too-small-for-eighteen classroom for input, preparing their teaching points, helping them prepare their lessons, giving feedback, marking assignments, giving one to one tutorials and dealing with the inevitable stress and emotional breakdowns.   There is an extra tutor on board to share the teaching practice work but that also means an extra 'member of staff' to manage, and the extra tutor last month was doing their first full course!  For context, Dd normally runs a twelve person course in Cairo which is the ideal - two tutors and two groups of six with no empty teaching slots.
