Scoot!

And I did! The electric bike sharing company Scoot has expanded out of San Francisco to Barcelona. It's fab! I took a bike out today to spin up Montjuic in Barcelona. If you haven't tried one, the electric motor gives you a burst of torque when you start off, and kicks in to support your own pedal efforts when it senses resistance rising on hills. You have an app that shows you where the nearest one is and you can leave it anywhere as long as the chain is wrapped round a lamppost or similar.

Unfortunately my test ride up to the school yesterday showed that I will not be able to use it to get there. The final few hundred metres are steep hills and needed too much sweat inducing effort to reach the summit, so business clothes would be soaked. A pity. Coming down is easy though so if there is one available, I may grab it for that.
