Morecambe exposed

My plan for a full day in the office was foiled by Dan having work, this morning, which involved our routine of dropping him at Costa at nine o'clock, and then me heading up to Kendal.

Driving along the front, I noticed this structure, exposed by the low tide, a little reminiscent of Haweswater. I wonder what it used to be? A breakwater, maybe, or somewhere for boats to tie up?
