Shotover

That’s the name of this river so I guess there was a gun battle at some time over something. Probably gold I guess. Anyway it tastes great but the peace and quiet was disturbed while I had my head down by the extra which was one of the original “adventure” tourist thingies here and a boat crammed full of willing bodies and driven through the gorge bit in the barkground in an exciting manner. History will tell you that the JET boat was invented in NZ by a farmer bloke in the Mackenzie country who wanted to travel round in very shallow water and wreaked his wife’s washing machine to get parts, Hmmm....you just never kno about history The Boss says.....
Anyway no trip to NZ is complete without a “Proper” jet boat experience which takes a tad longer than many tourists have allowed for so this is a popular “attraction” but a long way from the real thing.
