Doing the Pinata
I was reading on Wikipedia that in the 14th century when the ceremony was brought from China to Europe of bashing a ceramic pot open, that was filled with seeds originally and the seeds falling to earth were propitious for a successful growing season and harvest, the festive day 'Pinata Sunday' was its outcome... that in turn evolved into 'a celebration known as The Dance of the Pinata'.
Now at the celebratory occasions this family observes the Pinata is hung on a rotary clothesline which is spun and blindfolded children are spun in turn until they are dizzied and given a bat they will try to strike the Pinata with to burst it open. The breaking of the Pinata spills sweets onto the ground.
