Working Girl

Took a trip out to Lochleven to visit the castle yesterday, except I misread the opening times and arrived to discover that it closed down at the end of October for the season. D'Oh!

Anyway, I decided to take a wander round the loch and the nearby Kinross Estate. I was so glad I did, because just as I passed in front of the main gate to the back gardens, the keeper came through holding this beauty. I asked (yep, you heard right) if it would be ok for me to take some shots. She's a Harris Hawk and had just finished a highly successful hunt/feed of the grey squirrels. According to the keeper, many of the trees felled in the estate have had to because of the activities of these vermin.

Sorry I haven't been around and still need to catch up with you all. My highly exciting Friday consisted of me falling asleep on the sofa in front of the telly and since yesterday afternoon (not long after taking this) I've been in terrible pain with a toothache. I was at the dentist on Friday to get a double filling and while one is ok, the other never really felt right. I put the initial tenderness down to the faffing around that had been done, but yesterday afternoon the pain hit big time and it just won't go away. Nothing I've tried has helped and I've had no sleep either. Blipping to distract myself but my jaw is aching as I type. Just can't concentrate on anything at the moment! Heh, I got up at 4am this morning and headed down to the 24 hour Asda to pick up some oral gel but that didn't even work, although I don't think I used enough. Get to have another go in 10 mins, so fingers crossed that it helps. If so, I'll be back to catch up after I get some zzz's. Will phone the dentist in the morning before heading out to work to see if I can get an emergency appointment!
