A Bumper Crop................
........................of tiny golden Crab Apples - each only about an inch and a quarter in size!! (possibly "Golden Hornet").
This small tree consists of one single trunk trained up and over an archway. I have never seen so many fruits on one tree before!
Apple trees were the first tree to be cultivated for fruit.
There are several myths attached to the Crab Apple and apples in general. 1) if a pip is thrown into the fire and it explodes , then love is true.
2) If the sun shines through it's branches on Dec.25th, the owner will have a healthy crop the following year.
3) They were used in magic rituals of love in the Middle Ages in Europe, where it was believed that if a woman slept with an apple under her arm and could persuade the man to eat it the following day, he would only have eyes for her.
In the language of flowers, the apple stands for Temptation!
Forgetting all the above blurb, these little fruits are such a lovely colour in the sunlight, I had to use them for today's blip!
Weather bright and sunny with an early morning frost - I wonder if the sun will continue to shine for the rest of the day - hope so!
Click on "L" on your keyboard to see the little fruits a bit bigger!
Have a good day everyone :-)
