MEADOW SAFFRON.

Yesterday these small flowers were tight shut but they opened in the sunlight today . They are some type of Colchicum or autumn flowering crocus . The flowers always appear the leaves. They are highly toxic if ingested and contact with the skin can cause irritation.
I love the gnarled tree trunk behind them,a result of the annual removal of the lowest twiggy shoots.
