Changeable...
Is how the weather could best be described today, well here at least. Sunshine one minute then heavy rain the next. A typical Scottish day you could say.
Thankfully we managed to dodge the showers when we popped out late morning to buy a leaving gift for Kirsten who is working her last shift for Alan tonight. Boo hoo :-(
There's a lovely gift shop on the High Street and we managed to not only get a gift for Kirsten but a gift for Eleanor to mark her retirement and a gift for Alan's pal Lucy who celebrates her 21st birthday next weekend. I feel very organised :-)
This afternoon David took Lola to the vet for a blood test. It's a year since she completed her course of puppy vaccinations so she is due her booster but we are having her titre tested to check her immunity, as if she shows immunity to the diseases she'd be vaccinated against, she won't need her booster. She returned with a small pink bandage on her lower left front leg, full of the joys and looking for a treat. Hopefully we will get the results tomorrow.
I've been concerned that she'd lost weight over the summer (put it down to a combination of fussy eating, which she thankfully seems to be over, and now being off lead so getting more exercise) but she is 30.2kg, which is a perfect weight for her size and build. I think her summer moult perhaps has a lot to do with her looking less bulky too. Either way, the vet is very pleased with her condition and the vet nurses were praising her too so I am going to stop worrying :-))
Our friend's four year old golden retriever Finn (who I mentioned the other day has been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer) had an operation to amputate his back right leg yesterday. He got home from the vet hospital last night and I was gobsmacked to see a video of him on Facebook this morning, out for a short pavement walk along his street, as per his rehabilitation plan. He is an absolute star! Still walking, still smiling and still so much love to give. What a boy!
