Take a Little Time out of Your Busy day.
When I was little, I had a Knitting Nancy. A strange little woman, made of wood, with a hole in her head, and four pins stuck in it. You wound the wool around the pins, and used a little hook to pull the wool over and make a tube of wool. I could never quite work out what the little tube of wool could be used for, but it kept me entertained.
I also had a Barbie; she had a swimsuit and I got her for Christmas - My sister had saved up the Cornflake tokens and got her for me. When I took her to church, and the minister asked us to hold up our toys, he looked at my Barbie and said "Santa must have liked cornflakes". Bastard. Everyone laughed. I loved that Barbie. How dare he take the piss. Also - This is the same minister who completely put me off religion. I think that might have been the starting point.
I also had a dolls house. It had been someone elses, and then was someone else's after me, but it was gorgeous. It had about six rooms, stairs, and most importantly, light bulbs. There was a switch in the roof top and you flicked it on, and you could see the lights shine through the window. Mum and dad put wall paper on the wall, and off-cuts from the carpet on the floor. It was beautiful, and far, far more beautiful than the silly plastic ones you get today.
Why am I reminiscing like this? I miss toys.. . I really miss the kids having toys, and I have a craving for Lego or Duplo.... and now that I've talked about my dolls house, I have an urge to get shoeboxes out and make a Phoebe one.
And - A message for someone out there, a one time blipper...... There's a hug coming your way, and if it doesn't, I will slap that Bog Myrtle....
