Prairie Coneflowers....

Besides the ragweed, these coneflowers are about the only thing still blooming! They last all summer, and belong to the aster family, so are pretty hardy. I took this at the restoration area alongside the beach, just before Mae and I played more wave tag/sandcastle building/piling up of stones/seagull observation/feather retrieval!  Initially we weren't going to go back to the beach today--in fact, Tom said he was feeling shaky so didn't want to go-- but after about the 50th time of repeating:  "Grandma, we go to beach to play", I caved and we went. Had a great time, too. :))
