Day One: France 2018

Backblipped 8th Sept 

A super early start with the alarm going off at 2am – hardly felt like going to bed! However we had a good run down to Folkstone and managed to get an earlier train than we’d booked onto – and also managed time for the most amazing avocado and halloumi burger for brekkie!
 
Headed on down to Dijon and arrived just in time for the rain! Quick bite to eat and a wee wander to get our bearings (loved the hat shop we spotted – see extras) and to pick up The Owl Trail map from the Tourist Office. 
 
A short drive south of the town took us to our hotel in Gevrey-Chambertin by which point the sun had come out!
 
Had an explore of the village (blip) and just as we’d reached the furthest point from our hotel (the wine shop!) the heavens opened! 

After 10 minutes of waiting it was obvious is wasn’t going to pass any time soon so we made a dash for it!! And of course 5 minutes after we got back to the hotel it was blue skies and sunshine again!
 
After deciding dinner at the hotel was super expensive (little did we know about what was yet to come!) we settled on sitting outside at a local bar and having fabulous cheese, meats and bread – and pudding! And being entertained by the most lovely wee puppy!
 
And then a very very early night!!
