And the next object is...?
"Turmeric
(Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae.[2] It is native to tropical South Asia and needs temperatures between 20 °C and 30 °C (68 °F and 86 °F) and a considerable amount of annual rainfall to thrive."
So there's not much hope for it as an indoor.
Still it'll be fun trying with the little bit which found its way, inexplicably, into my pocket as I picked a small amount to buy.
The new-look Morrison's is till making with the odd veggies. Pick it up Friday, went nowhere today, again.
I've known it as "Turmeric" all my life: then it, magically, became "Tumeric", now it appears its back again to the status quo.
By that same token Persimmons suddenly became "Sharon Fruit" NOW Morrison's sell both(??) They appear to be Persimmons OR Sharon Fruit dependent upon source.
Added some years later:-
It became apparent that those from Israel are "Sharon fruit", and from elsewhere they become "Persimmons".
Also just discovered that:-
"Sharon fruit is the trade name for a variety of persimmon whose astringency has been artificially removed, so it can be eaten at all stages of maturity." So it may NOT be as simple as I thought.
