Let's get ready to Schunkel

Only six days to go before the scene above is dramatically changed into the centre of the World Party Scene. Our village will become THE place to be seen for all those under .... about 20. The Ackersounds Event (the [ploughed]Field sounds) will be filling the night air with their DJ knocking out the Ackerbeats and the county youth will be propping up the longest bar in ..... well .... our village at least.

And in exactly a week, it will be the scene of wild schunkeling(people sitting on beer benches with locked arms and swaying to the sounds of a good Bavarian brass band). I think one needs to prove one is over 40 to be allowed in.

Both events are organised by the village Catholic rural youth club, a sort of mix of Young Farmers and ..... well .... young people. I don't think a Catholic baptism certificate is a limiting factor. And my hat off to them for all the hard work they put into this annual Fest.

Friday is for the younger ones with DJ and all that, Saturday for the oldies. The field barn in the background is the main building kindly lent by farming family (Sepp) Müller. The work has begun on setting it up - there is a tractor with front loader there and piles of beer tables and benches waiting to be set up. All the other bits and pieces will arrive this week - the beer wagon, the food wagon, the mobile WCs, a tent, the water supply set up by the village fire brigade etc. And the car park needs to be prepared and thus for the rest of the coming week the field on the right will be mowed by the farmer and fed fresh to his cows. 

The forecast for the coming week is excellent getting over 25°C and scratching at 30°C but cooling off Friday and Saturday to around 20°C with a chance of thunderstorms. But the car park is unlikely to become a quagmire.

The day had been a bit of messing about with bee matters and taking much too long to try and build a sugar-fondant dispenser. It's not necessary but I don't like the recommended method of placing a heavy 2.5kg block directly on the frames. In the extra photo, my patent-pending design with a block of fondant still in its plastic bag. Normally these feeders are solid wood and can be filled with liquid sugar too. It'san experiment.

Apart from that, have started to tackle dismantling and cleaning the carburettor on our emergency electricity generator. The engine fires up nicely when it has remained unused for a day but dies after 20 seconds of fuel starvation. There is a blockage in the works. I can't think why I have never had to or never carried out a carburettor clean. A bit of Youtube viewing and Bob's your uncle.

I had to delay the final cleaning and test as I was instructed to take Luna out for this evening's walk and Blip while Angie cooked. Tomorrow I will carry out the carburettor test as well as the fondant feeder premier. Fingers crossed or as the German's say - thumbs pressed.
