Norway Cruise Day 4
For the first time on the cruise, we didn't wake up to blue sky. The weather was quite dramatic through the morning however, it wasn't raining, just a bit more cloudy. Around 9.30am, we crossed back over the Artic Circle. An early lunch followed before we departed our ship for a much smaller craft (third extra) and an excursion to the Vega Archipelago, a UNESCO world heritage site. We learnt about life in the area, the production of down from the eider ducks and how recent government nearly took all the population away before UNESCO world heritage status restored things. The buildings are simple but colourful, see the main blip.
We re-joined our cruise ship at the next stop (Bronnoysund) and were soon passing Torghatten, a mountain with a hole through it, a natural tunnel formed in the ice age (see second extra). Another superb day in Norway.
