Wanderings & Witterings

After church in the morning, it was back to church in the afternoon. This weekend was North Lanarkshire's Doors Open Days weekend and our church was open to visitors from 1 - 5 on both Saturday and Sunday. I was one of the volunteers on duty to show people round on Sunday afternoon.

There has been worship in our present building since 1659, but the foundations date to the early 13th century. Some of the gravestones in the kirkyard have 17th century inscriptions, so there's a lot of history around the place.

It was a day of sunshine and showers, one or two of the latter taking the form of torrential downpours, and visitors were rather thin on the ground - only two all afternoon!

I took the opportunity of one quiet spell (i.e. most of the afternoon) to have a wander round the kirkyard, camera in hand. This particular corner was a splash of red amidst the green and grey.
